What is your Response to God?

Recently I was talking with a friend of mine and they told me a story of a man who had accomplished a number of incredible feats. Don't quote me exactly, but if my memory serves me right, this man was a navy seal, and then became a physician, and is currently serving NASA as an astronaut. This man supposedly had commented in and interview when he was asked why he was doing all of these extreme things. This man responded, "well I had a dream that I stood before God and was making an account of my life and God said 'my Son, you were supposed to do all of these incredible things with the gifts I had given you and you waisted it'." The man then expressed that the dream had shaken him so deeply that he amended his life that he wanted to do more than what God had asked. Now whether or not the story he told was true, there is one thing that is for sure true, and that is there will come a day when each one of us will stand before God and make an account of our lives. Whether or not we believed in God during our time spent on earth, we will all stand before Him.

Now I ask you, what will your response be? You'll make an account for your actions. How did you treat your employers? How did you treat your server? How did you treat those who differ in belief than you? How did you treat your family when they upset you? How did you treat those you pass by on the street? How did you treat those who persecute you? How did you treat those who were suffering around you? How did you treat your spouse? For depending on what you account for, God will say one of two things on that day

  1. "Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me." Matthew 25:34-36

  2. "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me." Matthew 25:41-43
