Prayer/Reflection based off of Sirach Chapter 17
The LORD created me out of earth,
and will turn me back to it again.
He gave to me a few days, a limited
time,
but he granted me authority over the
things upon the earth.
He endowed me with a strength like His
own,
and has made me in His own image.
He placed the fear of me in all living
beings,
and granted me dominion over
beasts and birds.
He made for me a tongue and eyes;
He gave me ears and a mind for
thinking.
He filled me with knowledge and
understanding,
and showed me good and evil.
He set His eye upon my heart
to show me the majesty of His works.
And I will praise His Holy Name,
and proclaim the grandeur of His works.
He bestowed knowledge upon me
and allotted to me the law of life.
He established with me and eternal covenant
and showed me His judgements.
My eyes saw His glorious majesty
and my ears have heard the glory of His
voice.
And He said to me, "beware of all
unrighteousness."
And He gave a commandment to
me concerning my neighbor.
My ways are always before Him,
they will not be hid from His eyes.
All my works are as the sun before
Him,
and His eyes are continually upon my
ways.
My iniquities are not hidden from Him,
and all my sins are before the Lord.
My almsgiving is like a signet with
the Lord,
and He will keep my kindness
like the apple of His eye.
Afterward He will arise and requite me,
and He will bring my recompense upon
my head.
Yet if I repent He will grant me to
return,
and He encourages me when my
endurance is failing.
